THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala recorded 4696 cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, health minister KK Shailaja informed. Among the new cases, 4425 persons developed the disease through contact including 459 cases without an identified source of infection. 44 persons came from abroad while 137 came from other states.
2751 coronavirus patients tested negative for the virus in the past 24 hours. There are 39,415 active cases in the state.

The state also reported 16 COVID deaths on Sunday taking the death toll to 535.
Currently, there are 2,22,179 under observation in the state with 25,918 in hospitals. 3154 persons were admitted to hospitals on Sunday.
In the past 24 hours, 41,630 samples were tested.
As of today, there are 638 hotspots in the state with the addition of 22 regions and the removal of 14.
