KOCHI: The National Investigation Agency on Sunday stated that more persons linked with the arrested Al Qaeda members are yet to be caught. While 9 members of Al Qaeda were arrested in Kolkata and Kochi on Saturday, 10 more members are yet to be caught, the agency said. It also informed that it has identified these 10 members.
Pak sponsored Al Qaeda had planned a series of bomb blasts in various cities in India. The gang that was assigned to carry out these blasts was formed after a discussion through social media. All the gang members spoke Bengali. Murshid Hasan, who was arrested from Kochi, is the first accused. It is learnt that he had stayed in various parts of the country for raising and collecting funds for committing terrorist acts. He had communicated with the other group members through a Whatsapp group. The NIA team has also seized money from Murshid's bag
The NIA team had been observing Murshid's movements for the last one week. He was staying alone in a room at Pathalam in Ernakulam. Despite being a construction worker, Murshid seldom left the room for work and used to stay in front of his laptop. He had surfed through websites that spread the jihadi ideology. It is learnt that NIA has obtained crucial evidence regarding this from a laptop which was seized on Saturday.
The NIA has also seized texts about jihadi ideology from Murshid's bag. Meanwhile, Mosaraf Hoseen and Yakub Biswas, both arrested from Kochi, were named second and sixth accused respectively.
The NIA team is headed by Shankar Brata Raimedhi of the Delhi unit. After obtaining the transit remand, the three accused were taken to Delhi via flight. They will be produced before the Court of Special Judge for NIA cases at Patiala House Court, New Delhi.
