KASARGOD: Youth dies after he drowned in a pit in Kasargod. 30-year-old Chandrasekharan has died. The accident happened on Sunday night at 10.30 pm. Many houses in the district were damaged in the furious rain.

IMD has issued a warning which states that heavy rains could lash in various parts of the state due to the impact of low-pressure belt formed in Bay of Bengal. Orange alert was issue in 10 districts, these districts are—Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasargod. Yellow alert is also declared in Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta and Kollam. IMD has also issued a warning prohibiting fishermen from venturing into the sea.

Water levels are spiking up in reservoirs too. Peechi and Chimmony reservoirs will be opened. Low-lying areas in Kannur has become water-logged. 137 persons were evacuated from landslide-prone areas in the district. 23 homes were damaged in Kannur. Kottayam district administration has banned night travel through the high range areas in the district. Relief camps were opened in Changanassey.
