KOCHI: A temple employee of Kadavanthra in Kochi won the first prize of Thiruvonam bumper of state run lottery. 24-year-old Ananthu, a native of Idukki is the winner of the first prize which is Rs 12 crore. Ananthu works as an accountant of the temple coming under the Cochin Devaswom Board. He couldn’t believe first that he had won the first prize. When the results were out, Ananthu remembered telling his friends in the morning that the first prize would be for him. He is still in shock as what he said came true.
The first prize was for the ticket sold by agent Alakaswamy taken from Vigneswara Agency at Kacherippadi in Ernakulam. Ananthu said that he does not have the habit of buying tickets but has the habit of buying bumper tickets. The biggest prize ever won was Rs 5,000. The winner will take home 7.5 crore after the mandatory deductions of agency commissions and income tax.
Ananthu’s father is a contractor of painting works. Lady Luck smiled on him at a time when marriage proposals were coming for his sister, who is M.Com Graduate.
