NEW DELLHI: There is no stay in the CBI probe in Periya double murder case. The Supreme Court sent a notice on state government’s plea against the CBI probe. The state approached the apex court seeking to examine in detail this case after imposing a stay on high court verdict ordering a CBI probe.
The Supreme Court said let’s hear what the CBI has to say in the case. After that will think what action is needed in it, the court opined. The state government had sought immediate stay in the high court verdict.
The notice has been sent to the CBI and parents of both victims Kripesh and Sharath Lal. The court has asked to give a reply within four weeks. The action was by a three-member bench led by Justice Nageswar Rao. The high court verdict ordering a CBI probe came in August.
Sharath Lal’s father Sathyanarayanan welcomed the stand of the apex court. He told the media that the assessment is that the Supreme Court has accepted their demand.
