KOCHI: The CBI has registered a case in the Life Mission irregularities. The CBI has given a report at the CBI Kochi special court. The case is as per Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA). Presently the case has been registered without arraigning anyone. The CBI will probe whether the state government followed the protocol while accepting foreign aid and the corruption in the case. A raid will be conducted in the coming days to confiscate the documents. The CBI is likely to question individuals, including Swapna Suresh.
The case has been taken according to Foreign Contribution Regulation Act. The Enforcement Directorate probing the gold smuggling case had earlier questioned Life Mission CEO U V Jose.
The MD of UNITAC handling the project in Kerala had earlier given statement that Swana, Sarith and Sandeep, accused in the gold smuggling case, had demanded a commission of Rs one crore. The CBI has registered a case against Life Mission for allegedly violating the rules relating to receiving funds from abroad.
The state government had the other day announced a vigilance probe in the life mission project. The chief minister got irritated when a question was raised at the press meet regarding the vigilance probe.
