KOCHI: The works to demolish Palarivattom bridge will start from Monday. Decision in this regard was taken in a joint meeting between DMRC and Uralunkal labour contract society. The works will be undertaken in day and night shifts. Both bodies have decided to complete the work within eight months. The construction of the bridge will be taken out without obstructing the existing traffic.
From Monday onwards the work of removing tar from the bridge will start. The government has given the job on constructing a new bridge to DMRC and it will be carried out under the supervision of E Sreedharan. DMRC has Rs 17 crore left in its bank account which will be used for constructing the new bridge at Palarivattom.
