THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A severe dissatisfaction is witnessed in the UDF soon after the resignations of Benny Behanan and K Muraleedharan. The parties including the Muslim League, are rattled over the resignation. The league is of the stand that the issue was not discussed in the Front before Benny Behanan stepped down as convener and that the internal dispute in the Congress is affecting the Front.

The allied parties are of the opinion that Behanan’s resignation would be a setback at a time when they were moving forward tightening their stand against the state government. Behanan and K Muraleedharan announced their resignation from UDF convener’s post and chairman of KPCC media campaign committee, the other day. With this, the group squabbles in the congress has intensified.

Muraleedharan's resignation was after provoked by the state leadership's disapproval of his desire to return to the Assembly and dissatisfaction with the KPCC reorganization. The two resigned after expressing dissatisfaction when the Congress was protesting seeking the resignation of Minister Jaleel.

The ‘A’ and ‘I’ groups have been taking a strong stand against KPCC chief Mullappally Ramachandran from the beginning. The UDF convener resigned at a time when the CPM and LDF were making final preparations for the panchayat elections. Benny’s next move after a tiff with ‘A’ Group is significant. One should know whether Benny now close to Ramesh Chennithala will become active in ‘I’ Group. Muraleedharan's unexpected resignation and revelation comes shortly after Benny's resignation. Murali’s statement that holding the post where one is not needed is his open stand against the leadership.

The state leadership did not accept Muralidharan's interest to contest the Vattiyoorkavu assembly seat again and return to the state. This is the reason for taking a tough stand against the leadership. The bickering in the congress was noticed when the golden jubilee celebrations of Oommen Chandy were held.
