THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 7354 COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan told the media here. Among the new cases, 6364 persons developed the disease through contact including 672 cases without an identified source of infection. 58 persons had returned from abroad while 130 persons had returned from other states. 130 health workers tested positive for the virus today.

Meanwhile, 3420 patients tested negative for the virus in the last 24 hours.

The death toll climbed to 719 with 22 fatalities.

In the last 24 hours, 52,755 samples have been tested.

While 11 regions were categorised as hotspots on Tuesday, ten regions were omitted from the listl taking the total number to 661.
