THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government filed a plea in the high court against the CBI probe in the Life Mission project. The government moved the high court seeking to quash the FIR registered by the CBI in the case. The CBI’s FIR is challenging the rule of law, the government said.

In the plea filed, the government explained that they are not involved in the contract and that the deal for the construction of the flat is between Red Crescent and UNITAC. The government also requested to consider the plea urgently tomorrow. The government approached the high court against the CBI probe based on the legal advice of the advocate general. The cabinet had earlier decided to file a plea against the CBI probe.

The government was annoyed after CBI registered a case against them for violating the Foreign Aid Control Act related to Life Mission. The CBI is probing corruption cases in the country under the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act. The government’s permission is needed for it. However, most of the states, including Kerala have given public approval to the CBI in advance. Legal experts pointed that Kerala can withdraw this permission.
