THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Revenue minister, E Chandrasekharan said that prohibition orders will not be implemented across the state. Collectors could take a final decision in this regard after evaluating the situation in the district concerned. The minister also said collectors can also decide on relaxations to be given to places of worship. Meanwhile, DGP has stated that crowd formation won’t be allowed in parks and beaches.

In the wake of the rapid spread of coronavirus, the government has issued prohibition on crowd formation from Sunday morning. Its most important directive is that at a time more than five persons should not form a crowd in public spaces. If more than five persons get organised then action should be taken according to CRPC procedures. But the present relaxations for death and marriage will continue and in highly contagious zones, stringent regulations will be implemented. If needed, steps including 144 could be proclaimed.

K Muraleedharan has openly criticised the government's move to declare 144. He also said that Congress might have to defy the prohibition orders declared by the government. “ The government has no right to declare 144 in areas other than containment zones,” he said.
