THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala recorded its highest single-day spike of COVID cases on Friday with 9258 persons testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours. Among the new cases, 8274 persons contracted the disease through contact including 657 cases without an identified source of infection. 47 persons had returned from abroad while 184 persons had returned from other states. 93 health workers tested positive for the virus today.
Meanwhile, 4092 coronavirus patients tested negative for the virus in the last 24 hours.

The state reported 20 COVID deaths on Friday taking the toll to 791.
In the last 24 hours, 63,175 samples have been tested.
While 63 regions were categorized as hotspots on Friday, 15 regions were omitted from the list taking the total number to 705.
