legal-cell

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A legal affairs cell has been formed in the office of the chief minister for the smooth handling of their cases. A Rajesh, vigilance special government pleader of the high court, is in charge of the cell. The cell is responsible for handling the cases in the high court and the lower court.

The new cell was formed at a time when the government is in a tight spot in cases including the gold smuggling case. The new Legal Affairs Cell in the Chief Minister's Office was formed with the existing Legal Secretary in the status of senior district judge, Advocate General, Director General of Prosecution, Legal Adviser to the Chief Minister and the Legal Cell in the Office of the Chief Secretary for Government Legal Affairs. Questions have been raised against the government as to why there is a legal cell in the last phase of the administration and what legal issues the government is facing which the existing system cannot handle.
