THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The UDF leadership on Sunday reversed its decision to stop mass protests against the Kerala government. UDF convener MM Hassan said that the opposition will resume its protest against the government by strictly following COVID protocols. The opposition would also organise strikes at constituency centres on October 12, Hassan said.
Earlier, several Congress leaders including K Muraleedharan had criticised the UDF's move to stop protests against the government. According to sources, this led to the reversal of the decision. Muraleedharan had stated that UDF would face a setback if it backs off from protests at a time when the government is on the defensive.
On September 28, UDF had announced that it is stopping direct protests against the government in the wake of the COVID crisis. This move was welcomed by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
