KOCHI: NIA in its affidavit submitted before the court has said that Faisal Fareed and Rabinz Hammed has been arrested by UAE authorities. It also said that the agency has issued a blue corner notice against the six accused in the case. The notice was issued against Faisal Fareed, Rabinz Hameed, Siddique Akbar, Ahammed Kutty, Rateesh and Muhammed Shameer.

The developments on NIA’s probe in UAE came to light when NIA responded in the court to the bail plea submitted by the accused. Even though there were reports indicating the arrest of accused by UAE authorities, NIA has not officially confirmed those reports and the agency has also pointed out before the court that the accused had attempted to tarnish the diplomatic relations between two countries. The court has also informed the agency on Monday that if the evidence against the accused is not presented, it will be forced to give bail to the accused. In the affidavit, NIA has said that Mohammed Shafi and Rameez are the chief conspirators of gold smuggling.

Meanwhile, Aluva judicial first-class magistrate has recorded the secret testimony of Sandeep Nair. Sandeep has also given the testimony before the magistrate on Monday.
