THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala for the first time crossed 10,000 COVID-19 single day cases on Wednesday-10,606 as confirmed by the health department.
So far, 906 persons lost their lives in Kerala in this pandemic. In the last 24 hours, four districts recorded over 1000 cases. Of the new cases, 9542 cases are through contact including 741 cases without an identified source of infection.
Kozhikode recorded the highest number of cases-1576 followed by Malappuram (1350), Ernakulam (1201), Thiruvananthapuram (1182), Thrissur (948), Kollam (852), Alappuzha (672), Palakkad (650), Kannur (602), Kottayam (490), Kasaragod (432), Pathanamthitta (393), Wayanad (138), Idukki (120).
The rising number of cases, deaths, and cases through contact presents a grave situation. Virus infection in health workers is a setback in COVID-19 combat. As cases increased, many have to undergo treatment at their houses.
The COVID-19 situation is severe in Kerala as the state goes through an unprecedented phase in combating the virus. Community transmission has become more and more alarming as the authorities and the people need to gear up for any eventuality.
