THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government strongly opposed the move to grant anticipatory bail to the accused including dubbing artiste Bhagyalakshmi in the case of manhandling YouTuber Vijay P Nair. The government’s stand is that if the accused are granted bail then it will inspire the public to take law in their hands. The case was considered by second additional district judge Kesadhinath.
Government lawyer N C Priyan argued that if the court grants bail to them it will send a wrong message to the public. It will also inspire the public to take the law into their hands and more such offences would occur. The 12-minute long video recorded by the accused shows them barging into his room and manhandling him.
Vijay P Nair, who was beaten does nothing but can be heard calling the accused madam. After manhandling and hurling abuses at him, Bhagyalakshmi lodged a complaint at the Thampanoor police station mentioning that the YouTuber insulted them. He is in jail now.
The Men's Rights Association argued that in this situation, the attackers are standing outside and the victim is inside and this is an insult to the legal system. Bhagyalakshmi’s advocate argued that that the YouTuber attacked them saying the issue can be solved through talks. The court will pronounce the judgement on the bail plea tomorrow.
