lavalin-case

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court will on Thursday consider the petition filed by the CBI against excluding three persons including Pinarayi Vijayan from the list of accused in the Lavalin case. The CBI had last week urged the court to consider the case at the earliest as it was very important. And today it will be known whether the Supreme Court will consider the petition and decide the date for the final hearing of the case.
A three-member bench headed by Justice U U Lalith will oversee the arguments in the case.
The court will decided on the date for the final hearing if it accepts the CBI’s demand. In the wake of Covid pandemic, the court will be functioning through online facility.
Meanwhile, accuded R Sivadasn has filed a petition in the court, seeking not to consider the case until courts start functioning normally. The court will also go through this petition.
Now two petitions regarding Lavalin case are before the Supreme Court. One is the CBI’s petition against the high court order excluding three persons from the list of accused. The other petition is the one filed by three accused, questioning the high court order that cancelled its previous order excluding the three from the list of accused.
