KOCHI: Though the gold smuggling case accused Swapna Suresh had given the statement that she had received big money as commission in connection with the contract deals of UAE consulate, the ED has made it clear that she had not been able to present sufficient documents for the amount of the Rs One crore and one kilogram gold found in her locker.

It is learnt that Swapna and Sandeep had convinced Rameez that $1000 should be paid as commission to the UAE consulate for each kg of gold smuggled through diplomatic channel.

 During the period 2018-19, $ 65,000 was converted to Indian Rupees on several occasions; the total money converted thus was Rs 45 lakh

 When the ruler of Sharjah visited India in 2017-2018, he gave a tip of US $ 50,000 to Swapna; a part of this money was used to buy Maruti X Cross car.

 $ 70,000 from Car Palace Group

 1.08 crore from Unitac and San Ventures

 $ 30,000 from the Fourth Force

The gold smuggled was 166.882 kg gold

Rameez, with the help of Swampna and Sadeep had smuggled a total of 166.882 kg gold through UAE diplomatic channel. The gold was smuggled 21 times. They had used the mobile application Telegram for communication and coordination.
