NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court again postponed the hearing of CBI’s plea filed against the high court verdict in the Lavalin case acquitting three including Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The case has been postponed to October 16. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta who appeared for the CBI argued that the high court verdict acquitting the three including the chief minister was wrong. Harish Salve appeared for the chief minister.

However, ‘the trial and the high courts have exempted some from the list of the accused. In the wake of two courts pronouncing the same verdict, there should be strong facts if we need to intervene’, Justice U U Lalit who considered the case told the solicitor general. The CBI should file a detailed affidavit in the case. The CBI and KSEB former chief engineer Kasthuriranga Iyer approached the Supreme Court against the high court verdict.
