sivasankar

THIRUVANANHAPURAM: Tomorrow will be a decisive day for former principal secretary M Sivasanakar in connection with the gold smuggling bid through diplomatic channel.
Customs Preventive department has given notice to him, asking him to be present for questioning on Friday morning. Earlier, Customs had questioned him two times.
NIA enforcement directorate had also questioned Sivasankar on consecutive days.

Sivasankar may have to spill beans

Quizzing of Sivasankar gains significance since ED has filed the charge sheet against Swapna. The Customs has prepared special questionnaire for Sivasankar. Customs also procured details of the ED’s charge sheet and digital evidence on Wednesday and the questionnaire has been prepared on the basis of this.
The Customs had earlier made an inquiry into Sivasankar's assets and cash transactions. As part of this, his chartered accountant P Venugopal was called to Kochi for questioning. The charge sheet filed by ED and WhatsApp messages between Sivasankar and Venugopal also mention about some dubious financial transactions. Sivsankar will have to give explanation for this to the Customs tomorrow (Friday).
The WhatsApp messages hints at transactions worth Rs 35 lakh. Customs will seek Sivasankar’s explanation on these transactions and the source of the money. If Sivasankar won’t be able to give answer to the questions, there are chances for him to get arrested.
Sivasankar is understood to have given instructions to safe-keeping Rs 30 lakh that Swapna had brought. The messages also refer to some transaction done through another woman by name Sara.

The Customs had earlier collected details of Sivasankar’s three years’ assets and income.

Meanwhile, the CBI, which is now probing the Life Mission scam, may also question Shiv Shankar.
