KOCHI: M Sivasankar, former principal secretary to the chief minister, reached the customs office in Kochi for interrogation in the gold smuggling case. This is the second time he is appearing before the customs in the case.
He is being interrogated at the preventive commissioner’s office by Commissioner Sumit Kumar and his team.
The customs will seek details from Sivasankar regarding the distribution of dates which reached via UAE Consulate apart from the gold smuggling.
The customs had given him notice asking him to appear before them at 10.30 am Friday morning. He reached the office on time itself. He was earlier questioned at the customs office in Thiruvananthapuram.
The customs is questioning him the second time as they want to get clarity on his statements and that of the other accused in the case. The NIA had questioned him thrice in the case.
Meantime, the court granted permission to the customs team to quiz Swapna Suresh, P S Sarith and Sandeep Nair in the case registered by them. The NIA had handed over a copy of the digital evidence collected from the three main accused to the customs. Based on it, the plea filed at the Ernakulam additional CJM Court in charge of economic offences, seeking permission to question the accused was granted.
