THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala confirmed 11755 COVID-19 cases on Saturday, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said. This is the highest single-day spike recorded by the state. Among the new cases, 10471 persons developed the disease through contact including 952 cases without an identified source of infection. As many as 40 had come from abroad and 169 from other states. 116 health workers tested positive for the virus today.
Meanwhile, 7570 coronavirus patients tested negative for the virus in the last 24 hours. Currently, there are 95,918 active cases in the state. So far, 1,82,874 persons recovered from the viral disease.
The state recorded 23 COVID deaths on Saturday with the toll rising to 978.
