Amitabh Bachchan the mega start of the Indian film industry needs no introduction at all.
The actor has millions of fans not only in the Bollywood but all over the world. The mega star turned 78 today. Noted film personalities and others have come forward wishing the mega star on the social media.
The actor didn’t forget to thank his fans amidst his birthday celebrations. He has thanked all those who wished him via his Instagram account. He replied saying ‘your generosity and love be the greatest gift for me. I cannot possibly ask for more’.
Amitabh Bachchan was born Inquilaab Srivastava on October 11, 1942 in Allahabad. However, at the suggestion of fellow poet Sumitranandan Pant, his father Harivansh Rai changed his name to Amitabh, which means ‘the light that will never die.’
After completing his education in New Delhi, he worked for a shipping company in Kolkata for seven years. Then he reached Mumbai and some film personalities got attracted to his voice. He made his film debut in 1969, as a voice narrator in Mrinal Sen's National Award-winning film Bhuvan Shome. His acting life started after that.
His first acting role was as one of the seven protagonists in the film Saat Hindustani directed by Khwaja Ahmad Abbas. The film Zanjeer established Amitabh in a new persona the "angry young man" of Bollywood cinema. He is the host of the popular TV Show Kaun Banega Banega Crorepati (KBC).
He married Jaya Bachchan in 1973 and the couple has two children.
