THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPI has clarified that they will take part in channel discussions on life mission and gold smuggling cases. These issues are not related to CPI leaders therefore such discussions need not be boycotted, a senior CPI leader told Keralakaumudi news. “This is completely an in-party issue of CPM. That party can take a decision either to take part or not in TV Channel discussions,” he said.

Kappan fell into Jose’s trap

CPI leaders have said that LDF leadership has not deputed any leader for talks with Jose K Mani. The LDF stand is to look into the issue after Jose faction’s official decision is out. News related to seat discussions is fake a one created by Jose faction’s leaders in order to prevent the defection of their party workers to Joseph faction and Congress. But, most unfortunate is leaders like Mani C Kappan falling prey to such traps.

Pala seat which currently stands with LDF was earned through an electoral fight and we (CPI) don’t think that it should be given to someone else. If such a discussion occurs then CPI will support NCP, leaving sitting seat is not a healthy practice. Just because a party is coming to the front doesn’t mean that a leader like Mani C Kappan, who defeated an MLA’s party who held Pala seat for 50 years, should be sidelined. CPM leaders also hold the view that Kappan shouldn’t have to lambast Jose before the media.

Meanwhile, discussions between CPM district secretary V M Vasavan and leaders of Jose faction is ongoing. CPM sources also said that poll strategies to be taken for local body polls are discussed during the meet.

Jose to face DIC’s fate...?

CPL leaders say that there is nothing to astonish if Jose faces the same fate as Karunakaran’s DIC. Fifteen years before, the decision to induct DIC to LDF was put on hold, due to the severe opposition of CPI and RSP. Today RSP’s place is taken by NCP. CPM which had a poll understanding with DIC during local body polls and assembly by polls later severed such ties with them.

At that time then CPI secretary Veliyam Bhargavan strongly opposed DIC’s induction to LDF. It was a clever political strategy of CPI. CPM leaders reiterated that getting into a front and voting during polls are two different things.
