KOCHI: Chief accused in gold smuggling case has also received a huge amount as a commission from the agreement for visa stamping, she said in her testimony to ED. The consulate has given the contract to investigate the background of visa applicants to a Chennai based firm— ‘fourth force.’ This firm has given a large sum to Swapna Suresh as a commission to get the contract.
ED has grilled MD of fourth force, R N Jayaprakash, based on Swapna’s testimony. He has also concurred with Swapna’s testimony. The agency was given the task of background check of job applicants before giving the police clearance certificate. Through this way, an additional amount Rs 6400 was levied from the visa applicants.
Later this provision was cancelled following the intervention of the UAE government. Fourth force has also told ED that the agreement created a huge loss to the firm. Swapna made a commission from this agreement also, apart from life mission and gold smuggling.
