THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Navaratri procession from Padmanabhapuram palace will begin on Wednesday by following rituals and necessary COVID restrictions. The decision to hold a ceremonial procession contrary to the earlier schedule was made in a meeting of officials from Kerala and Tamil Nadu convened by Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran. The earlier decision was changed in view of the strong protests in parts of Tamil Nadu and Thiruvananthapuram.

Earlier it was decided that the Navaratri idols will be brought in a vehicle due to the COVID crisis. The authorities had also planned to complete the ceremony in one day.
