KOCHI: The CBI is likely to quiz former principal secretary to the chief minister M Sivasankar in the Life Mission scam. Only Life Mission officers have the protection of the court order. The CBI is of the stand that they have no problem in continuing with the probe. If the money received from abroad has been paid as commission to any officials, intermediaries or public servants, then the CBI is not barred from investigating them. The CBI has obtained legal advice on it.

UNITAC MD Santhosh Eapen had asserted that he had given commission. Further steps can be taken on the statement of Eapen. In this context, the CBI is planning to quiz officials including Sivasankar. The Life Mission Project was given to UNITAC following the intervention of Sivasankar. It was Sivasankar who sabotaged the MoU of the project. The CBI has obtained information that Sivasankar was involved in reducing the number of flats fixed initially.

The CBI is also investigating whether Sivsankar has a role in the commission obtained by Swapna Suresh and others. So, he will have to be questioned. Sivasankar has been advised to wait for the time being as he does not know what the CBI's move is. The CBI is likely to question Sivasankar this week.
