KOZHIKODE: Congress MP K Muraleedharan MP has suggested that more people be lured to the UDF. “The LDF is a front that that will do any cheap thing for continuity of rule. They swallowed whatever they said about Mani till yesterday. They had played such a dirty game so as to prevent Mani from presenting the budget,” Muraleedharan said.

Muraleedharan urged the UDF to bring back leaders who had left the UDF from time to time.

“In the local body election and the assembly election that will happen within the next few months, the UDF will have to make a strong comeback. The UDF leadership should try for this. If more people leave the UDF, the workers confidence will get affected,” he said.

Veerendra Kumar joined UDF after being with the LDF for 45 years. He joined UDF only because he was fed up with the Left. The UDF did not examined why Veerendra Kumar again returned to the UDF.

The issue could have been resolved through talks, according to the MP.

“I had talked to Jose K Mani, some compromises could have been made from both sides. But the stand taken by Ramesh Chennithala and Oommen Chandy was right.

Neverthless, they could have avoided Jose K Mani faction’s quitting. During K Karunakaran’s time nobody left the UDF. He kept close to him all divided factions of the Kerala Congress and he could block all campaigns for breaking away from UDF.

I am not saying that all this has happened due to the inefficiency of leaders. All these leaders were the ones who had worked with Karunakaran,” he said.
