THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: M Sivasankar, former principal secretary to the chief minister, is likely to be discharged from the medical college. The decision was taken at the medical board convened a few minutes back. The board reviewed that he has no health problems for inpatient treatment and that his back pain is not a serious issue.

He needs no other emergency treatment and only painkillers are enough. He is likely to be discharged today itself. He complained of severe back pain. However, this is an issue related to disc and not a serious issue, the doctors said.

He was admitted in the hospital on Friday evening at 6 pm following uneasiness. He developed uneasiness when the customs was taking him for interrogation. Sivasankar admitted at the private hospital in Karamana was subjected for angiogram.

Meantime, he was shifted to the medical college hospital as per the directive of the investigation team after he complained of severe back pain. He was in the ICU of the ortho department.
