PULPALLY: A tiger, which had been killing only goats for more than a month, was trapped by the forest department on Sunday. The female tiger was caught in a cage set up at Pulpally Cheeyambam elephant enclosure at around 6 in the morning. A large number of people gathered to see the tiger.
It had slaughtered around 15 goats. The tiger got trapped when it got inside the cage to eat the five kilos of mutton placed inside the cage. Chethalayam Range Officer T Sasikumar said the tiger was 10 years old. He also said that they are waiting for the Chief Wildlife Warden's instruction to know where to release the tiger. The tiger, which has become a major nuisance in populated areas, is unlikely to be released into the Wayanad forest.
The tiger was examined by senior veterinary surgeon Dr Arun Zachariah. Later, it was shifted to the Irulam forest office.
