KOLENCHERY: During the Lockdown days, volleyball player Mubeen played volleyball with his beloved labrador named Caesar. Soon, Caesar became a star on social media and is known for playing volleyball with children and adults.

Mubeen, a native of Mannarkad, got the one-month-old Caesar ten months before the lockdown. Mubeen has played in state championships and university competitions.

He made his house a playground in order to continue practising during the Covid era. When he saw Caesar striking the ball with his feet, he was amazed and started training him.

Three hours of practice were provided in various stages. At first, he was given training on speak, sit, down, stay, left hand, Right hand and catch the ball. As soon as he memorized them, he was made to focus on ball training. Later, he was taught to find and catch the ball that was thrown to him. As he liked the ball more, Caesar was taught to jump and catch the ball. He then got trained to hit the ball. He hits every ball with his nose and mouth with the performance of the best defender. Thus, he learned the basic lessons of the game in three months.

Now he trains with Mubeen's neighbours. The one-and-a-half-year-old Caesar is also known to make a little fuss if he doesn't get the ball. Mubeen is studying BPEd at Cheran College, Coimbatore. He had participated in last year's Tamil Nadu Inter-University competition
