THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala on Thursday said that both the CPM and the government are in custody in the gold smuggling case. He was reacting to the arrest of Bineesh Kodiyeri. "Earlier, the former principal secretary to the chief minister was arrested. Now, the son of the party secretary has been arrested in a drug case. While the government is misusing its power to do all sorts of corruption in the state, the party secretary's son is getting involved in underworld activities," Chennithala said.
"The Chief Minister's Office is clearly involved in underworld activities. The gold smuggling case is related to the drug case. Didn't the Chief Minister call the Central Agency? The probe into the case came after the Chief Minister sent a letter to the Prime Minister. Why is the party saying that it is being politically targetted as soon as the arrests were made?" he added. Chennithala demanded that the Chief Minister should resign as he has no right to stay in power even for a second.
