wild-boars

KOZHIKODE: Intoxicated by spurious liquor, two wild boars raided a house. A family residing there panicked and ran out of the house. The boars were later shot dead in the presence of forest officers. The incident was around 7 am on Friday. The animals ran into the house of KSEB employee Mohanan from Koorachund in Poovathumcholamala.

On knowing this, the local residents gathered in the region. Forest officers under the leadership of Peruvannamoozhi Range Officer Akhil Narayanan and police officers reached here. The wild board had started destroying furniture under the influence of alcohol.

Though there is a rule to kill hostile boars, the officers said to wait for DFO's permission which the people protested. After the DFO gave permission at around 11.30 am, Koottalida natives Raghunath and Ganghadharan, who licensed gun, opened fire through windows. The following procedures were completed in the presence of the village officer, panchayat president, and a veterinary surgeon and the corpses were buried.
