THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: NCP has started to make political moves in order to assure the Pala assembly seat which has become uncertain with the induction of Jose faction to LDF. State leaders of the party—Peethambaran Master and Mani C Kappan has met the party’s national president, Sharad Pawar to discuss the issue and Pawar has assured both leaders that he will talk with CPM leaders for Pala seat.

Both leaders have informed Sharad Pawar that it is better to leave the front if Pala seat is not received and following this, Sharad Pawar asked them to wait and he will talk with leaders including CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury to arrive at a consensus on the issue.

LDF leaders have given an indication to Mani C Kappan to compromise on Pala seat. Even though the leaders have promised them to give those seats, where victory for LDF is assured in return for Pala, Kappan and other leaders of NCP is not satisfied with that offer. The state leaders sought the support of central leadership in the wake of this background.

Even though Left leaders say that official talks have not been started for seat sharing, Jose faction has started preparations to contest in Pala. CPM is also planning strategies to make use of the difference of opinion in NCP over the Pala seat. If Kappan continues in his stand, then CPM will retain one faction of NCP with it, allowing the other half led by Kappan to exit from the front.
