THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: More shocking details of M Sivasankar, former principal secretary to the chief minister and arrested in the gold smuggling case, have been exposed. Latest reports say that he along with many big sharks owned a wind farms in Nagercoil. He has deposited a huge amount in it. The investigating team (ED) got the new information from his chartered accountant P Venugopal.

When details of Swapna’s secret locker were revealed, the investigating team had retrieved the whatsapp chats of Sivasankar directing Venugopal to move to Nagercoil for a while. Sivasankar maintained close ties with companies generating electricity from wind, in Nagercoil during his term as KSEB chairman. The wind companies which gets good winds all year round in Nagercoil can earn their investment in seven years. It may take up to ten years in other parts of India.

The expense for installing a windmill is Rs 15 crore. One can guess from this the extent of his investment. UAE former consul general in Thiruvananthapuram Jamal Al Sabi is also rumored to have invested in the German company that has installed wind turbines in Nagercoil.

Swapna, former secretary of Jamal Al Sabi, told investigating agencies about his business interests. She asserted that when she quit the post, he promised her to make her a partner in the German industrial project. Meantime, the ED may extend probe on government projects initiated by Sivasankar. The ED has already given a letter to the chief secretary seeking details of the projects. Down Town and e-mobility projects are under scanner. The details of K Phone and Smart City projects have also been sought.
