THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State Information Commission has found that the Registrar, Joint Registrar and subordinates of the University of Kerala, who are responsible for responding to RTI requests, are handling the matters irresponsibly.

Based on this finding, Chief Information Commissioner Vincent M. Paul has directed University Vice-Chancellor to conduct an awareness class regarding the RTI Act for all University staff, especially the Registrar and Joint Registrar. Besides, the Joint Registrar was found to have committed a serious offence that violated the good intentions of the RTI Act. The Joint Registrar has been ordered to give an explanation to the commission within 15 days to avoid disciplinary action.
