BENGALURU: Narcotics control bureau raided the Royal Suites apartment hotel in Bengaluru, run by Anoop Muhammed, from where he carried out his illegal business, after observing him for a month. With the raids, all the benami transactions of Bineesh Kodiyeri revealed to the world. NCB has found out that Anoop took up the charge of running the hotel in order to carry out his drug trade with the economic assistance of Bineesh.

Anoop and his other two friends took up the charge of running the hotel from another Malayalee after paying an advance of Rs 25 lakh at a monthly rent of Rs 3 lakh. Anoop started staying at room no 205 in the hotel. Many VIPs including Bineesh were daily visitors in the hotel. Meanwhile, NCB received the information that many including foreigners are coming to the hotel in search of drugs. On August 21st NCB arrested Anoop with drugs from his room in the hotel.

ED started probe over Anoop’s economic transactions on NCB’s request. ED has also found that Bineesh invested on the hotel via Anoop, making him just a benami.

As the hotel is located in a secluded area it wouldn’t be noticed by anybody. The hotel manager said that the hotel was given to Anoop for rent as it didn’t have much business and it was only realised later it became a centre of the drug trade. When the drug trade case was registered the agreement was cancelled and possession of the hotel was taken back. Now the hotel is only being rented out for office spaces. The hotel owners have given the records of transactions with Anoop and CCTV visuals to ED and NCB.
