BENGALURU: The Enforcement Directorate on Monday submitted the remand report of Bineesh Kodiyeri at the court. According to the remand report, Bineesh, who was arrested on charges of financial and benami links in connection with a drug case, handed over Rs 5,17,36,600 to Anoop through various accounts from 2012 to 2019. The ED said that this amount was collected through drug dealing. This figure does not match with the figures given by Bineesh to the Income Tax Department.

On the basis of the remand report, Bineesh's custody was extended for another five days. The ED told the court that Bineesh was not cooperating with the interrogation and that the interrogation had not taken place for the last two days due to health issues. Though ED had sought his custody for 10 days, the court ordered that he should be produced by 3 pm on Saturday. Bineesh told the court that he had health problems, severe body aches and vomited 10 times. However, the doctors' report was presented in the ED court. His custody was extended after checking this.

Though ED initially tried to present Bineesh through video conference, the court directed him to appear in person. Bineesh was taken to the Bowring Hospital in Shivajinagar at around 1 pm yesterday. He was produced in court after undergoing a physical examination and a COVID examination. The Narcotics Control Bureau, which is investigating the drug case, had attempted to take Bineesh into custody. The NCB lawyer was in contact with ED officials. However, the NCB did not seek his custody as it was informed that custody would be extended.

The accused in the drug case, Anoop Mohammad and Rijesh, are directors of event management companies owned by Bineesh. This needs to be investigated. According to a Karnataka resident, Bineesh used cocaine and was involved in drug dealing with friends. It is learnt that Bineesh has hidden many assets using several people as benamis.
