THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the income tax department will conduct a raid at the house of CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan soon after his son Bineesh Kodiyeri was arrested in the Bengaluru drug case. Many centres connected to Bineesh will also be raided.

An eight-member team of the enforcement have reached the capital city from Bengaluru. The raid is based on the details obtained after questioning Bineesh Kodiyeri in the last few days.

A raid will be conducted at many centres including Bineesh’s house. Car Palace believed to be linked with the drug deal will also be raided. The raid is conducted to get more information on his money transactions.

The investigating team will reach his house at Koottamvila in Maruthamkuzhy in the capital city. In addition to Kodiyeri’s house, some of Bineesh’s friends’ houses will also be searched.

The old coffee house in the capital city, UAFX Solutions, Car Palace, Capito Light, K K Rocks Quarry are under scanner of the ED. The ED said Bineesh is suspected of laundering black money during his stay in Dubai from 2008 to 2013. A probe will be conducted on it also.

The ED asserted that Abdul Latheef, accused in the gold smuggling case, is Bineesh’s benami and partner. Latheef was in possession of the money obtained through drug trafficking and the two have a partnership in the old coffee house.

Meantime, lawyers have been permitted to meet Bineesh, informed his brother Binoy. The lawyers will meet him at the office of the ED today.
