THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has directed to register a case against the Enforcement Directorate. The action is following a petition that Bineesh Kodiyeri's two-and-a-half-year-old child was illegally detained and tortured mentally. The commission also sought a health report of the child from the district child protection officer.

Bineesh Kodiyeri’s father-in-law lodged a complaint to the director of the enforcement stating that the officials tortured his daughter and grandchild. The complaint was lodged to enforcement director Surya Kumar Mishra via e-mail.

The mail said that his wife, daughter and grandchild were under house detention and showing a credit card they said it was seized from the house and asked my daughter to sign in the mahassar. When my daughter refused to sign the statement, they tortured her mentally and physically. He also said that he was forcefully sent out of the house.

They also filed a complaint with Kerala Child Rights Commission, after which the chairman reached the house and served a notice to ED officials. The complaint of the relatives alleged that the child was locked inside the house and was prevented from meeting relatives.

Meantime, the Kerala police sent a mail to ED based on the statement of Bineesh Kodiyeri against ED. The mail was sent pointing that they were not ready to give an explanation when asked directly.

The Poojappura police got a complaint that Bineesh’s wife, mother and child were detained during the raid. The police had informed this to the ED. This happened at the time of the raid.

Police blocked the vehicle of ED officials when they came out of the raid. Though an explanation was sought, the ED was not willing to react. Following this, the police sent a mail. The police have sought full details of the officials who came for the raid. Police have asked them to give statement.
