PATHANAMTHITTA: Adoor native Binu Varghese has come up with a memorial for Madhu, a tribal youth who was beaten to death by a mob in Attappadi for allegedly stealing food items. The memorial is set up in front of 'Ammachiveedu' in Adoor. Apart from the memorial, Binu is also distributing free food for the poor. Those who do not have food can eat food items. including rice, tapioca, fish curry, meat and curries, from here from 9 am to 5 pm. There is also a seating area.

Binu Varghese said that the memorial was erected to feed the hungry due to the excruciating pain caused by the starving Madhu. The memorial also has a picture of a battered Madhu.

Nearby is the 'Ammachikkada', a restaurant set in a natural setting. People can pay for food here. There are several huts in Ammachikada that are surrounded by a mini-park which includes waterfalls, garden, medicinal plants and trees. Poor people can celebrate weddings and birthdays here without paying rent.
