PATHANAMTHITTA: ED will probe transactions of believers church. ED has registered a case against the church faction under the provisions of Prevention of Money Laundering Act. ED has planned new moves as it suspects the possibility of black money transactions.
In the last 48 hours, about Rs 8 crore was confiscated from raids in different institutions under the believers church. ED will also conduct a probe on the land transactions undertaken by the church. ED officials have also collected relevant information from the I-T officials.
I-T department has earlier found out that the church has invested money received in the form of charity in the real estate sector. Sources say that the church has invested about Rs 6,000 crore in the realty sector. Officials have also found that the church used the charity money to give financial aid to politicians also.
Raids on different institutions under the church were carried out on Friday. The raids are currently ongoing at the home and other institutions of the church group’s bishop K P Yohanan. The raids are led by the I-T department and it consists of I-T officials from other states.
