KOZHIKODE: Muslim League said that arrest of M C Kamaruddin is an extraordinary measure. “It is a move intended to balance the current controversies against the government. What sort of investigation has the government started against Kamaruddin?,” Muslim League leader and MP P K Kunhalikutty asked.
League has taken the stand that investors money should be repaid immediately. “The probe officials were declaring their intention to arrest him when his questioning was going on. CPM is complaining that details of probes against them are getting leaked in Media but here, the probe officials are declaring their next move to the public via a press meet,” Kunhalikutty said.
The Muslim League leader added that they have publicised the arrest as a piece of big news after imposing non-bailable sections against him. The party’s stand was right. But the government was confusing everything citing political reasons. Arresting someone merely on the basis of allegations is wrong if that is the case, serious allegations are there against the chief minister and all persons below him.
“When Kamaruddin was contesting for polls the party didn’t know much about his business deals. There are sitting MLA’s who owes money to many people. Misuse of political power is what is happening in the state. Undue importance is given to the case. Kamaruddin need not resign and the party won’t take any action against him,” said Kunhalikutty.
