THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The final forensic result on the fire in the protocol department of the Secretariat is ready. The report of the forensic is that the reason for the fire that erupted in the secretariat was not due to a short circuit. The report submitted in the Thiruvananthapuram CJM Court asserted that two liquor bottles were found where the fire broke out. It is not clear whether the liquor bottles are the reason for the fire.

Parts of the fan gutted in the fire, the melted portion and the motor were examined. An expert forensic examination will be conducted as the reason for the first has not been found. The samples will be sent for examination in Kochi or Bengaluru.

The fire broke out on August 25 at the protocol section of the General Administration Department. Some of the files kept here were gutted in the fire. The fire broke out at a time when the probe in the gold smuggling case was progressing.
