KOCHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is grilling K M Shaji MLA on the charge of having accepted a bribe of Rs 25 lakh for sanctioning plus two course in Azhikode School in Kannur. He reached the office of the ED at 9.30 am this morning. The ED had yesterday recorded the statement of his wife K M Asha.
The ED enquired on the financial source of constructing a three-storeyed house in Vengeri in her name and bank transactions of the last ten years. The house was constructed at a time when he accepted the bribe of Rs 25 lakh. The ED registered the statement PSC former member and League leader T T Ismail. He was asked about the land in Vengeri bought along with Shaji.
Ismail said all documents on financial dealings have been handed over to the ED. Shaji constructed the house even though the land was bought by three people. The ED has received a complaint against Shaji’s sisters. INL leader K Abdul Aziz lodged a complaint seeking their roles in money transactions.
Meantime, vigilance court judge K Vijayakumar ordered a probe against Shaji for amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income.
