KOCHI: M C Kamaruddin MLA suffered a double blow on Thursday. The Kerala High Court rejected his plea seeking cancellation of the FIR and the Hosdurg Magistrate Court rejected his bail plea in the jewellery fraud case.
The court in its order asserted that granting him bail at the early stage of the case will affect the probe as he is an influential person. The bail plea was filed in three cases registered at the Chandera Station. With the arrest registered in eleven new cases, the number of cases in which Kamaruddin has been arrested rose to 25. In the meanwhile, the investigating team has approached the court to register arrest in more cases. Meantime, Pookoya Thangal, the first accused in the case is still on the run.
The government had opposed his plea seeking cancellation of the FIR in the high court. The government informed the court that he attracted investors misusing his political influence. The government has told the court that this case is similar to the popular finance fraud case. The plaintiff had cheated the investors without giving a share certificate. He bought land in Bengaluru for eight crore.
