KOCHI: Actor Devan announced a new party in the Kerala politics. He has launched a new political outfit named Nava Kerala People’s Party. He said the political disintegration that exists now forced him to form a new party. In the press meet convened to explain party policies, he harshly criticised the Left Government and said that he held talks with the BJP leadership.
Devan opined that the stand taken by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on issues including gold smuggling stained the pride of the Keralites. When the LDF assumed power, the people had a lot of hope on them. However, the people lost faith in them in the first two years. The people understood it in the Sabarimala issue. Pinarayi Vijayan will be the last communist chief minister in Kerala, he said.
My party will not be contesting the coming local body polls and will support those sharing similar thoughts. Meantime, though talks were held with the BJP leadership, I am not ready to surrender my personality to anyone, he said. The actor also took a stand against AMMA. Their stand in the actress attack case is not right, changes are needed, he said.
