THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: While the Election Commission and the Health Department are working hard to ensure that the election campaign does not result in a surge in COVID cases, political parties do not seem to be caring about following any of the restrictions.
Several candidates were spotted following the old-fashioned campaign style which includes house visits, distribution of notices and handshakes at public places. Some of the candidates have even ignored the possibilities of using social media apps for campaigning as they feel that "there is no feel for campaigning through social media." As a result, many candidates are busy visiting houses of the voters.
As per the restrictions, no more than five people are required to ask for vote. Masks are mandatory and sanitizers must be used frequently. Candidates and party members should refrain from entering houses of votes and are required e to ask for votes from outside. They should not touch children and refrain from giving handshakes to voters. However, most of the candidates have apparently turned a blind eye towards such restrictions.
