THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The differently-abled woman who was helped by two policemen cross a barricade was finally found. After the photos of the moment captured by Keralakaumudi chief photographer NR Sudharmadas were published on the front page of the daily many came forward willing to help the less fortunate woman. The woman's name is Sarada. She is 43 years old and hails from Andhra. She now resides at a one-room rented shelter near Kaloor Kathrikkadav bridge. Sarada earns a living by selling lotteries.

The photos captured by Sudharamadas opened a new life for the woman and her family. After the Kerala police Facebook page shared the Keralakumudi YouTube channel's video about the woman on wheels helped by policemen many came forward willing to help her with a wheelchair or financial aid. On November 14, Keralakaumudi reported that the woman couldn't be found so far. A number was also provided for the public to call in case they find her.

Sarada was first found by Abhishikt Mathew James near Chaalayam Marthoma Church and contacted on the number in the Keralakaumudi report. Kochi city police assistant commissioner Lalji himself came forward to get the details.

Sarada came to Kerala five years back to pay back a debt of Rs 4 lakhs which she borrowed for the treatment of her husband. While the husband look after their kids at home, Sarada would go out and sell lotteries. They need over Rs 10,000 per month to meet expenses like rent, medical treatment, and interest of the owed money. For treatment, she would go to Hyderabad with husband Vijay. As of now, she paid back over Rs 2 lakhs.
